Limone, following the footsteps of history and traditions

The first stop following the historical and traditional footsteps is the "Museum of Tourism" founded in the former City Hall, on the lakeshore. This is an exhibition space dedicated to social-economic evolution in Limone throughout the twentieth century.
After you reach Piazza Garibaldi, you climb to the heart of the town, the "Castèl", with its quaint stone stairs and houses clinging to the rocks. Here we can find a typical lemon house, dating from the early eighteenth century, as proof of the capacity and tenacity of those who have struggled to subtract what little terrain was available from Nature in order to cultivate it.
As we enter from Via Orti through the ancient stables, we feel as though we are diving back into a story of other times: we seem to still hear the voices f those who worked here, in the greenery of the lemon groves and in the shadows of the pillars that rise to the sky, voices that patiently teach children the tasks that will soon become theirs.
We then proceed in the direction of the Parish Church which seems to protect the village with its majestic bell tower. An we go along Via Capitelli, dotted with saints, to reach, in via IV Novembre, Villa Boghi, the Town Hall.
A small and recently built lemon house is an obligatory visit in the well-tended garden surrounding this Villa. It contains the Fishing Museum.
Our route continues towards the outskirts of town and the olive grove: we take the path along the stream, to reach the oil mill belonging to the Cooperativa Possidenti Oliveti. Here, from November to January, olives are pressed to make one of the best DOP oils to be found on Lake Garda. Here you can taste this oil, view the small photograph exhibition and participate in a film projection.
Passing along "Via Campaldo" between terraces with century-old olives, we can reach the "Tesol", where we find the place of birth of St. Daniele Comboni, together with the stables, transformed into a chapel, the lemon house and the olive grove.
A room on the ground floor offers a multimedia experience entitled "in the heart of Africa whit Africa in the heart": using images, sounds, music and objects coming from Africa, is illustrated the life, dreams and missionary passion of Daniele Comboni.
A room is available for projections, with access to the internet sites dedicated to the mission and to the Combonian Brothers. A bookshop lets visitors go deeper into these themes with books, videos, CDs and souvenirs.
